Glencore has been present in South Africa since 1974. Today, our ferroalloys commodity businesses have assets in three provinces (Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West). Through our 79.5% stake in the Glencore-Merafe Chrome Venture, we have interests in five chrome and one silica mines and four ferroalloys smelter complexes. We also have, through our majority shareholding stake in the Rhovan-Bakwena Vanadium Venture, an open-cast mine and smelter complex, which mainly produces ferrovanadium and vanadium pentoxide.

Glencore is one of the world’s largest globally diversified natural resource companies – employing 146,000 people around the world. Our operations comprise around 150 mining and metallurgical sites, oil production assets and agricultural facilities. Industrial and marketing activities are supported by a global network of more than 90 offices located in over 50 countries.
