Bachelor of Commerce or a Business Science degree

All public universities in South Africa offer a Commerce degree and some will offer Business Science. Choose math-based or analytical majors such as finance, economics, maths, analytics, supply chain. Consider a short course in retail business management or fashion in addition to the commerce degree.

Bachelor of Science

Majors in quantitative analysis, forecasting, and statistical modelling, maths. Consider additional electives within the commerce faculties or a short course in retail business management or fashion in addition to the science degree.

There is a shortage of skilled merchandise planners in South Africa. Merchandise Planners have often completed a graduate program within merchandise planning, under supervision of a seasoned, senior merchandise planner or planning manager.
